For many years I said ‘NO!’ to speaking opportunities that came my way - I stayed in the ‘comfort zone’ feeling very uncomfortable. I knew I had more to say, more to offer, more to share yet I was terrified of being judged by others - What if I opened my mouth only to stumble and splutter all over my words?
I mean I have lived and worked in 3 different countries, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.A., I learned to drive a truck on the wrong side of the road when I moved to Houston, not knowing a soul- so doing brave things, being adaptable and resilient are my strong suits after all. However, I was terrified of public speaking. Doesn’t make sense, right? Why is public speaking so dreaded? I was hoping that with time this would become a fear of the past BUT the truth is, different circumstances and different seasons offered a new set of intimidations. Can you relate?
Feeling stuck, limited, and frustrated, I decided enough was enough. As a teacher with 20 years of experience, a degree in Pedagogy, my fascination with Neuroscience, and my faith in God, I knew it was time to face my fears.
In my quest to transform myself into a brave orator, I decided to dive deep. I didn't just want to sound confident but still be quivering at the sight of an organized mob - I wanted to get rid of that ghastly public speaking anxiety altogether.
What I discovered in my journey was that we are ALL born to use our voices to IMPACT and CONNECT others. Furthermore, public speaking skills are learned skills that anyone can master, with consistent practice. I took what I learned, and packaged it into a unique, easy-to-follow, and achievable public speaking system for both adults and kids, within Great Orators- Public Speaking (which we lovingly call GO Public).
With my superpowers of connecting with others, seeing their potential, and being culturally eclectic, I am passionate and dedicated to helping you pick up a mic, tell your story, and accomplish your life assignment. Are you ready?
